Macromedia Central

In 2001, I became interested in the pioneering field of what was later called Rich Internet Applications.

In 2003, Macromedia released Central, which enabled a developer to write Flash applications that ran on the desktop, rather than inside the browser.

This was the precursor to Adobe AIR.

In 2004, I founded a start-up company, e2easy.com, on which and a web site which featured 14 applications to try or buy.

Some of my applications were targeted at normal consumers (not experts), who might want to easily make their own web-site, or e-shop, or market their business online. Other applications were getting closer to the capabilities of conventional desktop software. Word-processing, Illustration, Spreadsheet and Database programs.

Ultimately the market for Central was too small and short-lived. It never reached my target market. As usual, I was too ahead of the curve. I have recently ported some of my programs to Adobe AIR.
